A Laser SDK plugin for coding agents

Skills that teach Claude Code, Cursor and Codex to build with Laser SDK, and an MCP server that lets them search the current LaserData docs as they work.

The Laser SDK plugin teaches coding agents to build with Laser SDK. It has two parts: skills for Python, TypeScript and Rust that tell your agent how to use the SDK, and an MCP server that lets it search the current LaserData docs and the Laser SDK API as it works. It runs in Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.

The skills

There are four:

  • laser-sdk loads first. It covers connecting, publishing, consuming, typed records and errors.
  • laser-sdk-agents covers agents, contracts, sessions, context, memory and handler tests.
  • laser-sdk-managed covers key-value, queries, the change feed, graph, consumer filters and Laser Stack.
  • laser-sdk-setup adds the SDK to a project and writes its AGENTS.md section.

Ask your agent to publish typed records, or to write an agent with memory and a test for its handler, and the agent works from these skills.

The skills never start Laser Stack or Apache Iggy themselves. When the code needs one running, the agent asks you to start it and to export the connection string in your shell.

The MCP server

The skills say how Laser SDK is meant to be used. The MCP server gives your agent the details: it searches every page of docs.laserdata.com and the Laser SDK Python API, so the agent can check a signature or find a working example instead of guessing.

Its tools search the docs, fetch a page, find code examples by language, and list the pages related to one. It is read-only and needs no sign-in, and it runs at https://laserdata-docs-mcp.fly.dev/mcp.

Install

In Claude Code, install the plugin, then add the MCP server:

/plugin marketplace add laserdata/laser-sdk-plugin
/plugin install laser-sdk@laser-sdk
claude mcp add --transport http laserdata-docs https://laserdata-docs-mcp.fly.dev/mcp

In Codex, installing the plugin sets up the MCP server too:

codex plugin marketplace add laserdata/laser-sdk-plugin
codex plugin add laser-sdk@laser-sdk

The plugin is live in the Claude Code marketplace and submitted to the Cursor marketplace. If you use another agent, copy skills/laser-sdk-setup/agents-section.md into your project's AGENTS.md.

The skills target Laser SDK 0.8.0, and the plugin is licensed under Apache-2.0. For deployments and credentials, pair it with the LaserData CLI skills in laserdata/laser-cli-claude.

The plugin is at laserdata/laser-sdk-plugin, and the MCP server at laserdata/laserdata-docs-mcp.
